Real Stories Matter

A reminder that authenticity, transparency, and honesty still count for something.

I’m taking a break from writing for a little while. It strikes me that if we do not live at least a little, we have no stories to tell — and stories matter.

The internet is rapidly turning into a hellscape of grifters endlessly mansplaining in pursuit of the bottom of an increasingly shallow barrel — posting a barrage of nonsense, and in the process diluting and destroying publishing platforms in their wake.

Perhaps if we stand up and against the wave of drivel, we might turn the tide a little — and reassure readers that authenticity, transparency, and honesty still count for something.

While telling our stories — making our voices heard — might feel like murmuring into a howling gale at times, at least our words are original, considered, and thoughtful — not manufactured, targeted, and forgettable.
